SONLIGHT PRODUCTIONS

Diane began Sonlight Productions Theatre Company in 2007 when her husband suggested that she start her own theatre company. The idea came about after many frustrating and confusing audition seasons of 'theatre favorites, non-locals, and deep running politics' where Diane watched highly talented singers and actors being over-looked. Diane needed a partner for this adventure; someone with expertise in directing to balance her role as producer. Having worked with Kevin Bogan at her church, Church of the Resurrection, Diane offered him the opportunity. The two of them agreed that it would be refreshing to the KC theatre community to offer a Christian-based theatre company which offered clean, professional family shows with the philosophy to hire the best actor for the part: avoiding the hard-to-break habits of favoritism and politics in casting. It was decided that Sonlight Productions would offer excellence at all levels; casting, staging, music, performing, and marketing. Sonlight Productions opened with "A Grand Night for Singing" in September of 2008 at the City Stage in Union Station and followed with "Altar Boyz" in June and October of 2009, also on the City Stage. Both shows were great successes. Altar Boyz was rated "5th of the Top Rated Professional Shows in Kansas City for 2009" by KC Stage. The mission statement of Sonlight Productions: 'A Christian theatre organization striving to offer solid productions using highly talented, local professionals at a level no less than excellent.'
